AWESOME Last
Minute Contribution!!
The Independent Pilots
Association (UPS pilots Union) found out about
our little effort; their
Foundation
generously donated $4000.00 to Doernbecher to purchase 2
Infant Warming Lights!!
Jak from
Hood River WaterPlay
had some folks using the Windsurfing
simulator, the folks I spoke with really enjoyed the experience.
Folks had a lot of
fun watching the radio controlled cars racing on the track next door; for the
first year all of our food and beverages were donated. Sysco supplied the
great Burgers and Dogs, Pepsi Bottling Company took very good care of us for
water and soft drinks, and our friends at the Baker's Union hooked us up with
Oroweat for the buns and Frito Lay for the chips.
And our $1,000
Club contributor for 2008 is growing!!

The Guitar signed by many of the notable musicians from the area was a hit; Ron
Hurst, drummer for Steppenwolf signed a snare drum that was donated, he also
threw in an an autographed pair of sticks!!
John Kay of Steppenwolf had agreed to
sign another guitar; we weren't able to get request in to Gibson Guitars in time. We hope to offer that for our 2009 event.
Award Winning Thanks to:
Columbia Motorcycle Harley Davidson,
for donating a HUGE $$$ amount to help us
donate more to the kids! They were (again) by far the single largest
contributor to helping make the event a success. You guys and gals at
Columbia ROCK!
Our hosts at the checkpoints provided us
with very welcome hot coffee, great food and a friendly atmosphere. We
hope you'll visit them and thank them with your patronage.

We must also extend Special Thanks again this year to:
Hollywood Impress,
Email here, 503-233-1888, 4717 SE Division, Portland. Jay and Darice hopped on board as soon as they were asked! Thanks for donating a
lot of our printed materials!
Witham and Dickey,
for donating all 3500 raffle tickets!!
Daily Journal of Commerce 2006 brought the
first year of major participation by the DJC; watch for our ads starting a
couple weeks prior to the run. Their coverage will be a great addition!
And finally, the previously most "under-thanked" publication, the
Northwest Labor Press. They have
been with us from the beginning and have given good coverage every year.
With the DJC reaching out to (mostly) business groups and the Labor Press
reaching out Union members, this is the best of both worlds...
and finally, PacWest Communications,
their help with professional touches in layout, design and helping us get press
coverage is essential to keep us going and growing!
Unions for Kids is proud to be working with Team
Oregon; please visit them at

We were asked a few times about the info we
gather on the waiver or registration forms. We do not and will not give,
sell, or otherwise provide that information to anyone!
Please email
Lee Duncan with comments, suggestions
or to volunteer on committee or at next year's event. Thanks
again.
