Raffles

Drawings start at 3:00 pm

We have a Vendor Prize Raffle where you may buy $1 or $5 tickets for a chance at winning prizes donated by various retail and service businesses. The $5 raffle is a "Winner’s Choice" raffle where the holder of the winning ticket chooses one from several higher value prizes!
We have a "50-50" Drawing where participants buy $1 tickets to enter the drawing. One ticket drawn, the winner receives one-half of the total ticket sales for that event, the other half goes to the Doernbecher Foundation.
And a Silent auction which is held without an auctioneer. Place your bids on sheets of paper at the auction items. Highest bidder takes the prize home!
Raffling begins at 3:00 p.m., June 12, 2010 at IBEW Local 48, 15937 NE Airport Way, Portland following the Poker Run.

Chili Cook-off

We have up to five entries from different trades. Tasting is free; the taster then deposits a chip in cans numbered corresponding to number of each entry. The winner receives a plaque which is inscribed with the name and Local number of the winning entry.
GailLast year's chili cook-off winner was Gail Perryman, member of OPIEU Local 11. Gail works for IBEW & United Workers Federal Credit Union. Committee member Barbara Mathey (CEO of IBEW & UW FCU) and the majority of her staff also showed up at the event to help keep things running smoothly.

Other Events

Surprise events are common at the Unions for Kids Events. The 2007 event displayed the Union Yes racecar; 2008 event featured Hood River Waterplay  windsurfing simulator. The 2008 and 2009 event hosted Rose City Scale Racing with their remote controlled race car competition!
BillA special guest kicked off last year's afternoon raffling by boosting the crowd with his thanks; reminding them that their generosities touch many lives. Our guest's daughter was born with a cyst on her brain. She was just over a year old when she was diagnosed with a 3-4 inch cyst on the back posterior of her brain. “It was a shock for my wife and myself. It was something you couldn't even imagine. If anybody has children in here, they would totally understand the emotions you go through. So this kind of tells you the money you donate makes a huge difference". His daughters’ cyst was treated but it came back when she was seven, a year ago.
